TikTok has become one of the most popular social media platforms in the world, with over a billion active users worldwide. I am new to TikTok (@TheChrisSumlin), and I have been on the platform consistently ever since I started. I create Pop Culture Commentary on TikTok, which has become a way to share my opinions and build a following. I must say I really enjoy it; in just a few months, I have landed close to 15,000 followers on Tiktok and earned about 1.6 million likes on the platform. It has been great to create a small community of people who share the same interests as I do, and create a space where we can converse.
Through means of promotional videos and the TikTok creator fund, I have been able to make some passive income. If you are one of the many users who create engaging content on TikTok, you may wonder how to monetize your account. Here are five ways to monetize on TikTok:
1. Brand Deals
As your TikTok account grows, you may begin to receive offers from brands looking to collaborate with you. These brand deals can range from simple product placements to more complex campaigns with specific goals or messaging. The more followers you have, the more valuable you become to brands seeking to reach your audience. Once I hit 10,000 followers on TikTok , I started receiving gifts from brands and offered to post on my page for a small fee. This is a great way to get started on TikTok and make some money from your platform.

TikTok has a live-streaming feature that allows creators to broadcast to their audience in real-time. Viewers can send virtual gifts to the creator during the live stream, which can be redeemed for cash. Creators can also earn money from live streaming by partnering with brands or promoting their merchandise. I have enjoyed going live and doing listening parties. One of the biggest lives I ever did was a listening party for Taylor Swift’s Midnights album. I had thousands of people tune in, and they sent gifts. Some people go live and sing and put on shows; there are very interesting and creative ways to go live and get your followers to send you gifts.
3. TikTok Creator Fund
The TikTok Creator Fund is a program that pays creators for their content. Creators who meet the eligibility requirements can earn money based on the views and engagement of their videos. The Creator Fund is currently only available in select countries, but TikTok plans to expand it to more regions. The Creator Fund does not pay as much as it should, I can candidly say I created a video that earned over one million views, which translated to $25 dollars. But if you create a lot of content that gains a lot of views, this could potentially be a way to make some passive income on Tiktok.
4. Merchandise sales
If you have a loyal following on TikTok, creating and promoting merchandise can be a lucrative way to monetize your account. You can sell merchandise such as t-shirts, phone cases, or stickers featuring your logo or catchphrase. You can also partner with third-party merchandise companies that will help with the production and fulfillment of orders.
5. Affiliate marketing
Affiliate marketing is a type of marketing where you earn a commission for promoting a product. You can promote products on TikTok by including affiliate links in your videos or descriptions. If someone clicks your affiliate link and makes a purchase, you earn a commission.
